Every year, since Aubrey was born, I've made a point to take the kids' photos in the bluebonnets. Sometimes it's blazing hot and some years it's cold and rainy. Each year I scout out the best places with the thickest and most beautiful flowers and we are always on the lookout for snakes. But this year was the first time that I was afraid that there actually might not be any bluebonnets at all. It has been so dry and windy; we've been without rain for months. I couldn't tell if it was too early or too late, but I wasn't about to give up! This is possible the only little patch in the whole county. And, of course, the light was spotty and the kids did not want to cooperate, but I thought I had better at least attempt some decent shots in this little smattering of blooms.
This week I'm grateful for small blessings.
